CONCA: An Architecture for Consistent Nomadic Content Access

چکیده
Future access to web-based content is likely to be dominated by two trends: (a) increasing amounts of dynamic, personalized content, and (b) a significant growth in “on-the-move” access using various mobile resourceconstrained devices. These trends point to a situation where a user would have ubiquitous access to content, but require that content be efficiently delivered to the user irrespective of location, and in a form most suited to the user’s end device. Unfortunately, classical caching and transcoding solutions do not work well together, necessitating a new caching architecture built from the ground-up to handle problems caused by dynamic content, transcoded versions of objects, and the nomadic nature of users. This paper describes the goals and architecture of such a system: CONCA, an architecture for Consistent Nomadic Content Access.

متن کاملProviding nomadic CORBA servers by integrating Π2 and FATIMA
This paper presents an efficient solution for the nomadic CORBA server problem. The generic CORBA proxy platform Π2 provides efficient and transparent nomadic access to existing applications by offering a hand-over between different network types, optimized transport protocols for the wireless access, and application-specific compression. Up to now, Π2 was missing nomadic server functions. FATI...

متن کاملArchitectural Support for Managing Nomadic Applications and Services
In the increasingly wireless world of data communications; laptops, palmtops and other nomadic computers are appearing that have built-in, wireless access (e.g. cellular, radio, infrared, satellite access) to one or more wireless networks around them. Applications executing on these nomadic computers need to be able to locate services and enter into one or more service-level agreements with ser...
متن کاملNomadic Threads: a migrating multithreaded approach to remote memory accesses in multiprocessors
This paper describes an abstract multithreaded architecture for distributed memory multicomputers that significantly reduces the number of message transfers when compared to conventional “remote memory access” approaches. Instead of statically executing on its assigned processor and fetching data from remote storage, a Nomadic Thread transfers itself to the processor which contains the data it ...
